Does anyone else crave fresh, and dare I say..."healthy" food come Monday morning? 99% of the time, I do. The weekends are more relaxed around here, and we tend to eat out more and don't cook at home as much. Although I still eat fairly well 80-90% of the time, I find when I make meals for myself at home, that I just FEEL better. (In case you are wondering how I eat out, have fun, and STILL reach and maintain my health goals - that's what the feel good fit life (FGFL!) is all about! - check out my program that teaches you exactly how to do that, long term!)
So this morning, I was really looking forward to my regular green smoothie. My usual go-to is a combo of blueberries, bananas, spinach, almond butter, almond milk, flax and collagen peptides (protein), but I had a bunch of peaches from the famers market so I decided to switch it up :)
Personally, for breakfast I try to keep the sugar down and balance it with healthy fats, protein and fiber to minimize the blood sugar spike and energy crash - so my fruit is almost always under 1/2 cup.
Let me know if you try this out - and what you think of the flavor combo!
Peaches + Cream Green Smoothie
(with Protein!)
Smoothie Recipe:
1/4 - 1/2 frozen banana, chopped
1/4 cup chopped frozen peaches (I buy fresh and freeze)
1/4 c. raw nuts (I used a mix of cashews, walnuts and macadamia) or 2 T. nut butter
1-1.5 c. non dairy milk (I suggest 1/2 cup full fat coconut milk and 1/2 c. unsweetened almond milk for the extra creaminess!)
1 t. vanilla
1 -2 c. frozen spinach
1-2 T. ground flax
1 scoop collagen peptides
Chia seeds and/or crushed nuts, optional
Blend up in high speed blender, I swear by my Vitamix (I have had it for 7 years now and use it daily!), top with a few chopped peaches, crushed nuts and chia seeds. Enjoy!
